How you feel on the inside will impact what you see in the mirror, more than how you look on the outside ever could. Read that again. 😉
On my way back from Aruba, I lost my entire toiletry bag, which contained all of my makeup, makeup brushes, hair products, and skincare products. 😭
As any woman knows, this is quite the expensive collection of things to replace, so I’ve been slow to repurchase everything other than skincare, and have instead been living without makeup or hair products in the meantime. It’s actually been easier than I thought it would be, and that has been a big eye-opener. 😳
Losing basically my entire beauty arsenal has been inconvenient and was definitely disappointing, but @aubrymarie was there when I realized it was all lost, and she kept saying she was shocked at how much I wasn’t freaking out about losing so many things I cared about. I think that’s partly due to the self-work I’ve done to manage my freak outs lol, but also because I’ve been investing in caring for myself more than I used to, and self-care breeds self-confidence. 🙌🏼
I’m feeling more confident than I have in a long time, and unlike in the past, I no longer feel the same need to spend hours styling my hair and camouflaging my face behind layers of makeup every time I want to leave the house or snap a photo. 🙏🏼🙌🏼
So grateful to my glow master @sonyadakar’s treatments and products for giving me the gift of skin that doesn’t need makeup the way I used to think it did, and to @aveda/@spokeandweal for giving me the monthly gift of fresh color and a low-maintenance haircut that puts a pep in my step every single time. 💗
Great skincare and hair care are amazing, but I’m learning that the biggest self-esteem impact is actually made from me taking the time to give myself the gift of self-care. Turns out losing that bag gave me the chance to see how much I don’t even need many of the things inside it. 🙌🏼
