Daily reminder that comparison has the power to ruin experiences and accomplishments that you should actually feel proud of. Don’t let it! Instead of comparing your experience or outcome with that of others, give yourself props for showing up accomplishing as much as you did! 😃
I wasn’t going to share this, because a big part of me felt like it was a fail, or at least could be perceived as one by people watching. I see my friends like @aubrymarie and @adellbridges jumping right in and hanging out in their ice baths, and it’s so hardcore and inspiring. Meanwhile, I didn’t even get my shoulders under, and I felt like this video made me look like a wimp and wasn’t “good enough” to share. 😕
But you know what? This is the real me, not the perfect for Instagram me, and the real me avoids cold water like the plague and never considered getting into an ice bath before. When I thought about it that way, I was able to see that, while I’m no Wim Hof in this video, I did step out of my comfort zone in a major way, just by committing to even giving an ice bath a chance.
The verdict? It was paralyzingly freezing, of course, but also way more doable than I had imagined, and VERY exhilarating. In fact, I’m pretty determined to try again and again, until I can go under water and have casual conversations while I’m in there, like @calvmonster.
In the meantime, instead of beating myself up and focusing only on how I could/should have gone in further, I’ll be proud of myself for making it in as far as I did, because that turned out being further than I ever thought I would go. Bring on the next ice bath! ❄️

Wearing my blue haze @aloyoga, and hoping it might act like a wetsuit and keep me warmer (it did not lol).
