Between all the serene and meditative facial expressions I was trying to pull, this real one snuck in. 😳
And you know what?
I like it the best.
I almost didn’t share it, because my inner critic said “but this doesn’t look yogic enough.” 🙄
LOL. Writing that just now made me laugh.
I don’t like to make myself the judge and jury of what is or isn’t yoga, but I feel pretty sound in asserting that a genuinely deep and contemplative practice, doesn’t involve wondering whether your exterior expression will be perceived as “yogic enough”, or not, by onlookers.
That is, in fact, the opposite of yoga.
So I told my inner critic to back off, because this is yoga too, whether it looks peaceful or not.
And here we are.
Sometimes my practice is angry.
Sometimes it’s sad.
Sometimes it feels confused or lost.
Sometimes I barely move.
Sometimes I blow snot everywhere when I’m trying to do breath of fire. 😂
Sometimes I smile.
Sometimes I yell.
Sometimes I cry.
And sometimes my practice makes me straight feel myself, like I clearly am in this photo. 😜
Such is life, and such is yoga.
It’s often a lot messier than the IG version, and I’m starting to like that the best. 😉
