A chat with a taxi driver from a few days ago is stuck in my head. He used to work in the rice fields in West Timor and moved to Bali for work 7 months ago. All his family including his wife and two kids are in Timor. He lives in Bali with no friends or family and works 18 hours per day just to make barely any money to afford living in Bali while supporting his family back home… Sleeps in his car some nights so he can pick more people up from clubs and bars… And he wasn’t complaining about it nor asking for money – we were just having a general chat about his life. He was quite grateful for his beautiful family back home and to be able to work in Bali!
I ended up paying the driver three times more than I was supposed to. There are people in the world who value $10 way more than you and I do. That’s how much some earn in several days of hard work.
When traveling, if you can feel that someone is in need, GIVE more than what they are asking for their services. If you can’t give money, think about how you can help in a different way.
Listen to your intuition, you can tell if someone is being genuine about their story. I was raised with a mindset that I have to save every dollar but I learned that sharing money doesn’t take my abundance away from me.
Let’s help one another. Remember that the energy you give out is the energy you attract.
Giving is fulfilling. ❤️
